Breathe---

I whispered the word quietly, watching a butterfly land on a flower near me. Even the butterfly takes just a moment to ponder its life placidly.

I just want to know what it means---

I think, watching the butterfly flutter its beautiful wings. To live for a moment, to ponder that moment, to savor whatever the moment might bring and find peace.

Even the terrible moments---

I close my eyes, take a deep breath, hold all the air in my chest before letting it out carefully. The ones when the goodness I seek is elusive and causes me grief.

There must be a way to find peace---

I open my eyes and watch how the butterfly leaves. It pauses a moment; it opens its wings; it raises its head as if something makes sense and it leaves.

It rises above---

I dare now to think, seeing the flower alone without butterfly wings. The moment has passed, but another one soon is released. Waiting for butterflies, I smile and think, to come for a moment and feed.

Inspirational Books

Butterflies Pause, I said to myself one day. They go really fast and then stop for a moment and fold up their wings. Maybe...to contemplate, I think, and maybe...to breathe.
